From a mixed lot of MVs from an auction several months ago (price per bottle $65). On the nose and palate, black cherries, berries and cassis (quibbling with your red fruit, M), wet earth, anise, mocha, mentholyptus, and lesser notes of vanilla, oak, dark florals and leather. Deep purple, full bodied, thick legs. Medium tannins and acidity, well integrated with 30-45 minutes of air, no heat. Excellent complexity, VG+ intensity and persistence. Slightly disjointed off the pour, this sorted itself out quickly, and became the kind of example of power and grace sfwl loves so dearly, not unlike CMac breaking tackles in the open field. The structure is seamless, so much so you can lose it in the wonderful fruit, but this wine is so bright and strong that it presents as fairly early in its drinking window and was continuing to deepen and lengthen right through the last glass on night 2. Equally outstanding as a sipper on its own and with mixed grill one night, chicken and vegetable orzo another. A top tier entry in this top tier (well, maybe not if you’re counting Ovid, Abreu, Colgin and Harlan, but still pretty damned great) cuvee. At the bigbox’s current price ($109.99) excellent qpr. 95-96+

My first 'older' aged Profile, ever......and I picked a good time. Pnp'd as a late night addition to our NYE palooza......and it didn't disappoint. Great fruit, integrated and resolved but not necessarily secondary in any way, just maturing. Great pure, dark red fruit. I may have to seek out more of this producer going forward.....and look for more 'aged' bottles.
Medium ruby color. Strong alcohol on the nose. Medicinal, sour fruit, lots of oak. Tastes of tart cherry, strawberry jam, vanilla, cedar, oak, silky tannins. Medium low acidity, Medium alcohol, medium sweetness, medium tannin. Wonderful, lingering finish. Still drinking extremely well in 2022

Still at an excellent point in time although at end of its development. Deep ruby, surprisingly no garnet given its age. Nicely balanced with very soft tannins, medium+ body and a long finish. Blackberry and cassis flavors still fresh along with notes of tobacco, leather, cedar and forest floor/earth.

Last 2 days of 2022 Naples-palooza; 12/30/2022-12/31/2022 (Casa Mark1npt): No rating only because I had way too much to drink at this point and my notes only say Cherry nose and amazing.
I know I liked it very much and we pnp'd it and it was ready to go.
