Decanted approximately 2-2.5 hours before serving. Deep garnet colour with light bricking, apparent but silky tannins, absolute powerhouse wine showing cedar, tobacco, dark fruit, kept evolving and improving in the glass. Drinking well after a long decant, but should only improve with 5+ more years. Beautiful wine (94-95)
The one with Old Bordeaux (Praelum): Double decanted to remove sediments 3 hours before drinking and it seemed to have helped this bottle shed some baby fat. Out of the gates this was firing with alternating waves of black fruit and red fruit with smoke, earth, graphite and baking spices. This is fresh and youthful on the palate with leather, truffles, black fruit. This is dense and complex today already but I would keep my remaining to revisit in 5-10 years time! I can only imagine how tightly wound this would have otherwise been without the decant.
Slight mushroom cloaking the wine. Beneath the mushroom pure focused blackberry fruit. Great depth and complexity. Drinking beautifully now, will last another 2 decades.

(Chateau Haut Brion) This had a great nose. Really high-toned with deep spice and tobacco. Gravelly minerality developed after a while. The palate was what I expected out of a '95. Closed awkward and promising but was it? The story of 1995 right now. Another 1970 in the making? Only time will tell....or will it? A paradoxical vintage if there ever was one.
(Château Haut-Brion) Reluctant nose; cherry and cassis palate with well-integrated but strong tannins; long cherry finish
