Complex but a little weak nose. But it was enough to feel all of it. It could be better to drink some years ago, but it was still good. I could feel terrior and weather like a story. Dusty >> humid forest >> sunny orchard >> dark forest >> flower garden

Chez G, brown rimmed, washed out and dilute, tired, smokey Graves typicity though and hint of HB quality just emerges, probably better 5 years ago, drink up. Av+ (13.5).

Opened it on Thanksgiving afternoon to enjoy with a cheese and meat appetizer spread. Deep garnet color, with great clarity. Very light nose - not much fruit. Some forest floor, some menthol. Black licorice as it opened up. Slight tobacco notes. Really a very pleasant nose, seems typical of an aged Haut Brion. However... kind of disappointing in my mouth. Cedar and menthol. Absolutely no fruit on the attack, and none on the mid-palate. Light tannins. Really not much there. Short finish. This may have been nice at one time, but there just isn’t much there. I happen to like old Bordeaux and even though in its current state it isn’t a great wine, I still enjoy drinking a bit of history. 1992 was the first year I flew right seat in a 747 so I’ll just enjoy the memories.

Green and lean. Most of the fruit has faded mostly secondary notes. Some herbs, soil and dirty socks underneath.

The Best Vintages of LMHB vs HB plus some extras (Restaurant Hohenzollern in Bad Neuenahr/Ahrweiler): Haut Brion 1992 Magnum
Typischer Bordeaux mit etwas Frucht, Bleistift, Zigarrenkiste, aber für den durchwachsenen Jahrgang überraschend frisch. Elegant aufgrund seiner kühlenden Mineralität und des Magnumeffektes, 94P
