  • Expressive, open, full and still young nose. Determined with wet stone, granite, luxuriously intermingled with yellow and red apples as well as a perfect hint of honey. Absolutely lovely stone minerality.
Medium-dry on the dryish side. Full with a fabulous grip. Austere in the best sense. Complex, elegant, long and iron-hard. Balance and Power! Magnificent Riesling!

  • Spectacular. I'm amazed how well this is showing right now, and I really wish I had bought a few more bottles. Pure, vibrant red fruits, limes and peaches up front tinged with developing creamy and smoky notes, and then there's a wash of stone and mineral salts on the back end. The balance here is stunning with bright acids balancing the sweetness perfectly, and just absurd length. Just a fantastic Spätlese.

  • Absolutely fabulous spatlese; luscious red fruit, crunchy slate and nascent elements of petrol and wilting flowers wrapped up in a well balanced package with enough acidic lift to carry the weight. Great impact across the palate, with a super long finish. Supremely delicious and reminiscent of a good bottle of Donnhoff's Kirscheck.

  • Drank from .375ml bottle. Aromas of mainly apples with some stone fruit, white flowers, minerals and a touch of petrol. Good acidity and well-balanced with good length, but perhaps lacking a bit in complexity. Neverthless, very good.

  • Perhaps the best bottle I've had yet; bright fruit tinged with smoke, petrol and floral notes over a stony mineral base with lots of depth and fantastic balance, elegant with a sense of restrained power and serious length. Fantastic wine!

Rockss and Fruit

(Schonleber Monzinger Fruhlingsplatzchen Riesling Spatlese) Classic Nahe Spatlese. Not some declassified Berenauslese or anything like that. '04 is a classic vintage and pradikats drink like pradikats. Love it. This wine has a nose of slate, blueberries, apricot, brown sugar, chamomile and slight hint of kerosene. Palate was bright with great concentration and great acidity. My type of acids. Ripe and slathered with fruit. Purity and delineation are top notch with lots of peach and nectarine skin on the finish. The elegance gives this wine great flavor intensity on a featherly frame. The finish is long with a nice fruit/mineral interplay. Just about darn perfect for a Spat.
