Surprisingly youthful in color and taste - had it blind and would never had guessed what it was. Had it on its own ..very robust, would probably have had enjoyed it more with food. Many thanks to Pontet Pete for this surprise!
Restaurant purchase. The somm told us that she has seen some bottle variation and this was one of the better ones.
Starts off with a rich nose of manure, cedar, dry cigar tobacco and dried berries. Very nice to smell. The palate is a mix of the same secondary/tertiary notes but accompanied by a nice core of red cherry fruit and anise. The anise began to present in the nose as the wine evolved. Lacks oomph on the midpalate and finish.
This was fun to drink and is not over the hill. More air time may have helped as the wine did continue to improve for the hour or so we had it open. Not a life-changing mature bordeaux experience but considering the price paid for a well-stored 40+ year old bottle, I'm happy.
morken kork; diskret åpen nese med tørket frukt, kaffe, tobakk, lær og edelt tre. Jordlig og mineralsk. Åpner opp betydelig i glasset. Preg av våt bark som gjør at man kunne tatt dette for en moden brunello. Middels fyldig med flott syre og fortsatt ganske markante tanniner. Holdt seg godt, men på vei nedover. Delikat bordeaux som krever oppmerksomhet. Kjøpt på Chambers st i New York.
