Prototypical late harvest chenin blanc. Light golden in colour. Nose of honey and tropical fruits. A smooth and ripe wine. Layered honey, mango, pineapple and brioche with moderate length on the palate. Sweet and balanced with strong acidity. Still has 10-15 years of bottle life. Happy to have some left. :)

The Wines of Florent Baumard (Domaine Wine Storage - Chicago, IL): Tropical explosion! Pineapples, lychee, mango, flavors were dense and rich and there was hardly any acidity to be found. Not too surprising given the vintage, but it was disappointing that this was so super-ripe.

Tasting with Florent Baumard (Chicago, IL): Rich and sweet, with coconut the dominant characteristic on the nose and palate. There's a slight bit of dried fig and nutty character, as well as some of the caramelized pineapple you might find in an upside-down cake. Sadly, the acidity's a bit low on this one. I'd love for this to have more acidic grip.

Tasting at Domaine Baumard with Florent Baumard. Light yellow in the glass, this wine came across as a bit unbalanced compared to the '04 Clos St Catherine we had just tasted. It also seems to possess a bit of the telltale heaviness of 2003. Still, it's a very nice wine but I wouldn't hold it too long. 50+12+11+7.5+7.5 = 88

Opened after Thanksgiving dinner. Late harvest Chenin Blanc. Sweet with white fruit notes. The acidity was on the lighter side. 88 points.
