a reminder of why I love Bandol wines and Tempier, dried berries, fresh Autumn leaves and maybe some country perfumes fill the glass, this is an iron fist of natural fruit, balanced by acid and tannin, blackberry, blueberry, earth, dried cherries and tobacco envelop the palate, this is still fresh, but in a great place, goes well with all sorts of meats, a full-bodied and elegant beast
Not a formal note but a memory based on 3 bottles consumed over the past year - one in summer '13 overlooking the la Tourtine vineyard from the village of La Cadiere, the second 2 consumed here in Brooklyn - the latter last week. No decant, aerated and poured . Blossoming nose of black fruit, raisins and earth as soon as the wine hit the glass. Magnificently smooth on the palette, with black and red fruit in perfect harmony. A great food wine: paired nicely with veal in La Cadiere at chez Berard and with grilled filet mignon here. Has the goods to go another 10 years. Extraordinary.
