A little stinky on the nose. Blackcurrant and just a hint of eucalyptus. Decent, sweet, black fruit on the palate. Not a lot of structure or depth, and it all feels just a bit simple to me. (Which is pretty much what my last note - on a bottle drunk in 2009 - said.)

Beautifully matured Oz shiraz, plummy and alive with tingling acidity and plummy elements but without the heft normally associated with Oz shirazes. A treat.

Only gave this a brief decant before serving as I felt it might be too developed and fall over easily. Less than half an hour. Really one of the most impressive wines I've ever tasted. At first I noticed a bit of a bretty saddle leather type thing but it kind of dissipated. Evolved quite a bit actually. Terrific complexity of earth, gravel, orange rind, dark chocolate, coffee grounds, raspberries, tulips... The palate was sublime. I lost count assessing the length but it was very long and felt like 45 seconds at least. Not mouth-coating and dense though. Just a lot of staying power. Seamless palate, everything in it's right place. Gentle smooth acidity, brilliant evolving flourish of flavour at the end exploding on the palate. Aussie Icon from a great vintage at it's absolute peak. A privilege. Will remember this for a long long time.

What a hidden gem. Dark fruit, boysenberry, dark cherry, plum. Got better in the glass after a 45 min decant. It's a buy

Spectacular. Still tons of fruit. Could have gone for another 20 years. Perfect peak drinking time.
