  • At a White Horse Tavern in the north country: Much too young; dry, cool, intense, aristocratic, a wine of great style, but still hiding most of it's stuff in a concentrated fist of very ripe fruit. This will be better than good in 5+ years.

  • Blending 52% Merlot and 48% Cabernet Franc, the wine pops with licorice, truffle, tobacco, flowers and fresh, ripe black and red fruits. Silky, soft, refined, elegant, supple, exotic, young and fresh, there is a long kirsch, griotte and black raspberry liqueur sensation that expands in the mouth and on the palate in the finish. As good as this is now, it's only going to get better as it continues to age.

  • Still young, clearly there is a great future with this stunner. It's just going to take time, at least another 10 years before the rich, sensuous, concentrated, silky character shines through. There is depth of flavor, silky tannins and a long, pure, essence of perfectly ripe, plum and cherry notes that really hang, long after the wine has left the glass.

  • Color cereza picota, ribete granatoso, capa alta y gruesa lágrima lenta y tintada.

  • Surprisingly approach. Rich, round and primary. Dark fruit, cassis, coffee some chocolate. Hint of violet. Great balance and tremendous depth. Try again in 20 years.

(Chateau Cheval Blanc St Emilion) A fine nose here, quite vibrant and aromatic, a touch chalky, with pure red fruit character, elegant with cranberry and redcurrant characteristics. There is a gentle smokiness to it but it has a very restrained application of oak, and there are quiet nuances of liquorice and crunchy tar. Beautiful purity on the palate, very well defined and elegantly complete, balanced and light-footed, although with appropriate substance and a core of well judged tannins. Not a prodigious wine, but it has lift, vigour and definition on its side. It is very true to the Cheval Blanc style based on my tastings of older vintages, and this will be absolutely fine in 10-20 years time.
