Moderately dark red ruby color with some bricking around the rim. Filtered / decanted. Pleasant old world nose of leather, some forest floor, a little tar. Palate similar to nose, but still tight. Consistent notes over 2 days.
Tastes the way Bordeaux used to, like 1983 did in 1996. Medium to light bodied, cedar and plums, good acidity and resolved tannins. Medium finish with good linearity. I'd drink these to keep the fruit before it becomes all secondaries.
Great for the vintage. Decanted and drunk immediately. Deep, ruddy red color. But the nose is what grabs you -- classic, perfumed, rich berry, saddle, and cedar, absolutely lifting from the glass. Similar solid favors. Delicious if not particularly elegant. Excellent now, but 2-4 years from peak., I'd say.
