MY first Shrader cab. The drinking window shows 2012 as full maturity and although I would agree that it's past it's prime, still very interesting. Popped and poured and wine seemed like it might be past it's prime but still quite good, Initially I thought boudeaux, elegant, mineral aspect, violet on the nose. Yes, violet, everyone agreed. We returned 4 hours later and the wine had improved, great fruit showing thru. Fun

Cooked cherry, plum, eucalyptus, bay leaf notes with pure, rounded fruits, marly mineral aspect; Great wine, but a bit lacking spine, rounded and lower acidity.

Another great wine from the stepchild vintage...mature, creamy, with unique yuzu and green pepper...if the finish was longer it would be even better! This wine make you think and go wow!

9/17/2014 - Tim Heaton Likes this wine:
Chicago: wine, food, friends...cigars!; 9/17/2014-9/20/2014 (Blackbird, Les Nomades, Naha, with lunch at Shaw's Crab House): Leather, cassis, plum and pen ink with flavors largely following the nose. Elegant, full-bodied, and fully resolved, with some of its former bulk still shining through from moment to moment. Pleasurable, and very good with food. Certainly on the back half of its plateau; drink up.
Aerated to decanter 90 minutes, served non-blind.
