Only three bottles left of a case of 12 bought "en primeur". Never really lived up to expectation - having had the glorious '89 and '90, this is way behind. On the light side, still somewhat closed though fairly acidic, not sure this is going anywhere anymore. Just for the fun of it I'll leave the last few bottles for a year or two more.
Decanted & paired with grilled salmon. Didn't note color. Iron, tobacco, blackberry, orange peel & fig preserves on nose. Similar palate + saline / minerality with medium body, high acidity & well integrated tannins. Long finish. Has improved from my last tasting in 7/2011 and was just as good 24 hours later. 93+/- tonight.
Not showing a lot at this point. Subdued flavors of blackberries, olive past black and white pepper with a decent finish. Not overly concentrated or extracted. More elegance here though I get the impression its a little hollow and needs a little more structure to go the distance. Very fine integrated silky tannin.

(M. Chapoutier Hermitage La Sizeranne) Lightly bricking very dark red violet color; appealing, tar, charcoal, light pepper, light smoke nose; youthful, silky textured, tart roasted black fruit, charcoal, pepper palate; long finish
(M. Chapoutier Hermitage La Sizeranne) Estate grapes, aged 14-16 months in new oak. Deep garnet. Slightly closed nose of dark fruit, chocolate, tar, and a whiff of barnyard. More complex on the palate, with cigar-box notes emerging. Tannins still green, but supported by a solid, ageworthy structure. Terroir: Hermitage
