  No decant; 18c; dark, clean coppered purple; weak nose (that ‘beastly’ nose of younger bottles is gone); bright attack, with round, soft tannins and still vigorous fruit, giving long clingy finish; bacon, schist, tin, thick black fruit (mostly plums, black cherries), touch of candy apple; complexity holding up, draws you in over the hours, but it has peaked; 18.

  Northern Rhone WIMPS #163 6th April 2023 (La Trompette, Chiswick): Sweet, lifted, bruised strawberry nose. Lighter in style that its flight mates. A little spritz to the palate with some hawthorn.

  Nose of leather and lavender and dark fruits, medium body, elegant, mature but still vibrant. Not intense, not terribly long, but everything is correct and lovely. Sadly, only one more bottle. Enjoy!
