Dark ruby colour. Very expressive nose of red fruits mixed with spice and a touch of vanilla. Very smooth mouth feel. Medium to full bodied. Tannins fade to reveal a round plush drink that appears to be at peak drinking and should stay that way for another 5 years. This wine is rich with a thick plummy taste. Pomerol fans will especially appreciate this wine. This is not the soft and syruppy CA style that gave Merlot a bad reputation. Drank with Prime Rib and made a delicious combination.
Nice dark purple color. Bramble, berries, and a little cedar on the nose. Palate started off a touch green and sour, but smoothed out with air, revealing....uh, not much: most of the flavor has disappeared. Still a pleasant bottle due to the nose and silky body, but the flavor has sadly departed. 2005 would have been a good year to drink this wine.
