Good bottle condition, level vts. Clear deep mature dark red colour with slight brown reflexes. Aromas of leafs, cedar, some black currant. Delicious and classic mature St. Julien style. Perfect pairing to pheasant or duck. Much better in shape than expected. We did no decantation, the wine was well present for nearly one hour and started fading away very slowly after that time. Rating is a 90+, for me not much lower than the 1975 Leoville Las Cases.
Mature, brownish colour. Classic mature Bdx nose. Fantastic fruit, toffee and tertiary tones. On the palate it is very dry bot not very complex. Smooth tannins, quite acidic. Some red berries and a bit of oak. Balanced and elegant, but a little boring on the palate. Would probably work better with food. (89-90)
Tasted at Wine and View Bar at the Helsinki Airport, the bottle had been opened a couple of days earlier, but had been stored under gas. A beautiful maroon, with a brown edge to it. The nose had wonderful aged Bordeaux aromas, perfumy violets, a slight hint of smokiness, elegant fruit. The palate was very elegant as well, with good tannins, fading but still vibrant fruit, very subtle. A very tasty wine, very good at this point, probably has been better, and certainly won’t get any better than this. Very enjoyable!
