  • Chilled for roughly an hour prior to serving. Tasted several times over the course of four hours. I had high hopes but this was a depressing wine. No nose to speak of and very thin/dilute on the palate. Not sure if we got a bad bottle so I won't score it. The expectations were much higher.

  • Tasting Riesling at Jos. Christoffel Jr. (Ürzig, Germany): The nose is full and lovely showing great dried apple and mineral scents backed by a touch of rose petals. It’s delicate and elegant on contact, with a faint touch of red apples. The apples slowly intensify as the acidity sets in with lime flavor. Fruit grows in roundness and intensity as the acidity dries more and more fully through the mid palate. Peaches decorate the apples a bit on the mid palate. As well. Very late, the full and rich apple flavors have wings of pure and vibrant acidity. The acidity makes the mouth water on the finish, and the experience seems to last forever.

  • Nice light golden color. Lots of petrol/rubber on the nose, unmistakable aged riesling smell, with some baked apple. On the palate, quite smooth, with more rubber, baked apples and some lemon/lime. Lovely, classy mouthfeel, very balanced, with just the right acidity to balance the sweetness. As previous tasters have noted, the long, complex finish is what saves this wine. Up until the finish it seems a bit tired, with everything somewhat muted. But the finish builds and builds in a really elegant and subtle way, staying on the palate for some time, making for a nice overall impression. Definitely on the decline, but still quite interesting and tasty.
