  • Brought to a tasting, this performed very well again. There were layers of flavour in this wine, just off dry, great balance and seemingly no rush to drink this (but drinking very well now) (A-).

  • Liked but didn’t love this one. Opened up nicely with air, but seemed a bit clunky.

  • Everytime I pop one of these I literally think the same exact thing. 'Man, I freaking love Huet'. Super fresh bottle with no signs of oxidation and a beautiful light straw color. Just classic Huet chenin on the nose and palate with ripe orchard fruits dipped in honey and lightly rolled in wool. I'm pretty sure it would be physically impossible not to love this wine. 3 bottles left and I'm in no hurry based on this one.

  • This was a pop and pour, which was a mistake, as this improved with air (and with warming up a bit). A classic vouvray nose, with waxy and wooly notes along with apples and honey. More of the same on the medium, pure, complex, beautifully integrated palate. This is now in between a sec and demi sec in style, given it is 17 years old now. I think it will last a while yet. No rush, but lovely now (A-).

  • Man, I love Huet, especially with a little age on it. ZERO worries of premox on this one as it pours a light golden yellow color and fills the mouth with a beautiful melody of sour apples, honeyed peaches, a slight hint of wool and a blast of acidity on the finish. So fresh, and so delicious. One of the best values in wine, period. Happy to have a handful more as these should run for a long time.

(Domaine Huet Vouvray Demi-Sec Le Mont) Light lemon yellow color; nice mineral, yellow apple, wet wool, pear, nutty nose; tasty, poised, tart white fruit, yellow apple, pear, very minerally palate with a sense of white pepper; medium-plus finish 92+ pts.

(Huet Vouvray Le Mont Demi-Sec) This was very good and easily the best stuff made at this legendary estate since the brilliant 2002's. But my big problem with the wine was the acid was not there for me. It seemed a touch formless and gave off a little heat on the finish. The nose was great. Tons of wet earth, copper, spice, almonds, damp hay and some apple fruit. Kept expanding throughout the night. It was pure on the palate and creamy but this really needed more acidity. If that extra acid kick was there this would be close to the 2002.....but my conclusion is that it is a couple notches down.
