(LAGIER MEREDITH Syrah Mt Veeder) FOCUS: Turriga This is just a top deal on this wine, one that still requires 4-6 years of bottle age to show its stuff. It's perfectly enjoyable now but should reward patience with complexity and secondary character that is unique to the indigenous varietals of Sardinia. 2003 was a top vintage here and this wine shows us why (every vintage is torrid on Sardinia so 2003 was not out of the ordinary): 2003 Argiolas Turriga EXTREMELY LIMITED (this is about the same price as in Italy) **************************** Other top choices: 2006 Remi Jobard Meursault 1er Cru "Poruzots" (BH91) EXTREMELY LIMITED 2006 Remi Jobard Meursault 1er Cru "Genevrieres" (BH92) EXTREMELY LIMITED 2004 Lagier Meredith Syrah "Mount Veeder" 2001 Chëteau Ro_mieu-Lacoste "Selection Andre Duboudieu" (Cuvee Andre) Sauternes (375ml) (this is not the regular Barsac - if you hurry, Vineyardgate has a few 750ml's of this for $49 - an insane price) All I will say is, thank goodness this estate gets overlooked. This is one glorious bottle of 2001 Sauternes that will happily make its way to my cellar if you don't take it home. A knockout. Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy6541 Burg7401 Burg7402 CA8120 Bord5220 *************************** 2007 Chablis Dear Friends, Gilbert Picq is on a roll and this bargain white Burgundy is a stunner. If you want to talk about terroir, it's inside this bottle in spades, so much that the "smoky" note noted below is from earth and not wood. This 2007 has a multitude of elements that make it stand out in the under (or over) $20 Chablis crowd: impact and clarity meshed with nervous tone and an acute minerality that presents itself in this wine's terrific length over and over. In reality, you don't really need to spend more than this to get the best of the 2007 vintage. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and hard to find (this is not the regular 2007 Chablis that is widely available) This parcel is directly from the winery cellar with impeccable provenance: 2007 Gilbert Picq Chablis "Dessus la Carriere" Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg8850
