Wow. It was stunning from the first whiff. this wine is explosive….candied red fruit, minerals, floral aromas. Very intricate and matching flavors with a beautiful savory vintage character. I’ve had virtually perfect Beze (and Chambertin) from this vintage and would be curious to see this side by side as I think it would pull its weight.

Light pinot color with not much indication of age. A gentle nose expressing red fruit. This wine is fabulous. I will confess that I don't find it multidimensional, but that's OK. What it does give you is greatness. Raspberry, strawberry, cherry. Tannins are relaxed and silky smooth. It's nearly 40 years old, so one should approach this wine with the respective expectations. A medium long finish.

A gorgeous elegant old school red burgundy, with wild strawberry notes, smoke, ash, spice, truffle, sous bois woodsy and feral notes. It has wonderful precision, tension and weightlessness across the palate. It has a fabulous finish, and remains fresh and vibrant through the whole evening and into the next day. A wine of sheer beauty, classicism and harmony.

(Rousseau Armand Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.Jacques) A lovely, bright medium ruby-red colour. Undergrowth and maturing red fruits are the main aromas to start, but slowly the undergrowth fades to reveal a lovely redcurrant note. Nice texture - very smooth. I find just a tough of harshness to the acidity that’s mirrored in the finish, but this slowly improves if never completely fades. There is a nicely understated length here and I would say this is pretty much ready to go. Very nice, but far from the quality of the Chambertin and Bèze at this address in 1991, in terms of a rebuy, I would expect prices to be too high for the reward - but you never know

Not the best bottle as it had neither the length on the finish or the spice that one should get here
