What a treat to get to drink this amazing wine again. The nose offers Seville marmalade, apple crumble, and spun sugar alongside more savory notes - open, broad, truly majestic. This example didn't quite have the gumption of the 100 point bottle tasted a few years ago, but it was very, very serious.

A fine old Sauternes showing Manderin, almond, smoke, and creme brulee but highly disappointing for the 45 Yquem, lacking the massive, precise nose and bright acidity that truly remarkable benchmark wine should possess. A likely contributor is the fact that this is one of those bizarre Whitwham's bottles which sports a wax capsule. Recorked? Adulterated? One can speculate, but what is certain is that it is not correct.

"Bring your best" wine night (Ch. de Montesquieu): First time drinking Yquem of this age, and wow, what a special treat. Thank you Alex! The bottle was in great shape, and the wine lived up to hopes. It was marvelous. Withholding a point because the amazing flavor didn't extend long enough for perfection.

This is a double note for 2 bottles i drank over past few years. Both were surreal and neither better than the other. Having had the privilege of owning and drinking hundreds of the worlds greatest wines, i can confidently say my top no. 1 and no. 2 are this wine both times. i have one more bottle just obtained and once the PM lets us get together again it will be drank. and i suspect the top 3 wines of all time for me will be the same. 45 d'yquem is a must try wine before you peg out. we will open it with a 1921 the group has also.

What a majestic Yquem! This really has it all; Yquem is at its brilliant best when it combines the freshness of youth with the interest of maturity and the 45 does it perfectly. Clementine peel, mirabelle plum, smoke, parchment, just a touch of toffee and toasted caramel. Supremely good.
