  Very dark golden colour. Past its prime but still an excellent wine. Takes a day to reveal its class. Full bodied, with medium acid and length but what a complexity. A hint of apricot is embedded in herbs and spices.
  Really unique style. A 94 score for complexity. The modest score of 89 is for the structure, which is now over the top. In its prime it might have merit a 91 score.

  Der Mittelheimer St. Nikolaus Riesling 2005 aus dem Rheingau. Dieser enorm komplex und sicherlich etwas freakig wirkende Riesling von Peter Jakob Kühn konnte mich mit seiner ungewöhnlichen und immer noch sehr lebendigen Art begeistern. Die Aromen von Thymian, Salbei, Rauch, Bienenwachs, Tabak, die bestechende Salzigkeit (hier passte dieser unglückliche Ausdruck wirklich) und seine nach hinten heraus trocknenden Tannine, so hat es sich für mich wirklich angeschmeckt, zeugten von einem super spannenden und überaus präsenten Wein. Für mich ganz sich ein sehr anständiges Rieslingerlebnis.
