  Blind Tasting (10/3/15), South Bend. The popularity poll (1 is tops):
  1 1999 King Estate, Domaine, Oregon Pinot Noir (OR)
  2 1993 Nuits St Georges, Les St-Georges, Domain Henri Gouges (FR)
  3 1999 J Vineyards, Russian River Valley (CA)
  3 1997 Nuits St Georges, Les Murgers, Chauvenet - Chopin (FR)
  4 2007 Gary Farrell, Rochioli Vineyards, Russian River Valley (CA)
  5 2009 Torii Mor, La Cuillere, Member's Reserve (OR)
  
  My notes: good bouquet of an old PN, my rating #3.
  VICTORY FOR THE STATE OF OREGON!
  
  Overall, my comment is that the younger pinot noirs were at a disadvantage in that it seemed the majority of the group favor older PNs. The older PNs came off as softer, more rounded wines with very pleasing bouquets, all very drinkable, definitely not "over the hill".
  
  Two days later, back in Minneapolis, I blind tasted the Torii Mor, King Estate and J Vineyards. I correctly identified all three, and all three had significantly faded from the tasting 2 nights earlier. I liked the J best, second to K Estate, and third to TM.
