Decanted for about 45 minutes. Dark, inky purple color. Pepper, smoked meat, stems, blackberries, and a hint of cherry on the nose. The nose is NOT fruit dominated, the fruit elements paly a backup role, which to me is a nice change of pace. Medium body with a solid tannic backbone and very nice acidity. Decent length on the finish, which does show a bit more of the fruit but still retains the black pepper. Not a fruit forward wine. If you like loads of pepper, try this wine, I love it.

Decanted 1/2 bottle, reserving the rest in an empty .375. Right out of the bottle this had a dry tannic note, lots of odd green notes, and a stink whose nose led my wife to think this was a pinot. 2.5 hours later the off odors have largely blown off, though I'm not enjoying the "boquet." The flavor profile is much nicer, more of a burgundy than a new-world syrah. Very soft, some green stemminess, but not a bad bottle of wine, just not my style.

Dark and somewhat fruity. A nice nose of pepper. This really starts to show at 90 minutes. Very smooth and full-bodied. Picked this up at a visit to Siduri/Nova 18 months ago for $24. On day 2, this was still rocking.

Last bottle from a memorable trip. A little hot on the nose. Dark fruits across the palate. Moderate length. Still drinking well.
