  My first Burt & Ed era Williams-Selyem, and it certainly lives up to my high expectations. Pretty garnet color that has a bit of orange at the rim. Amazingly youthful, with loads of ripe black cherry fruit and baking spice on the nose, accented by hints of eucalyptus and cigar leaf. Bright and juicy, with tangelo, wild strawberry, and kirsch flavors, and a long, silky finish. Drinking incredibly well right now.

  The acidity hits in a pleasant way... for a 22 year old CA pinot, this really bristles with energy. A tart berry (strawberry and rhubarb juice without added sugar) just a hint of gunpowder and forest floor underneath.

  Not showing a ton of tertiary flavors, but a nice pure light strawberry fruit with nice acid. I enjoyed it for the purity/clarity of the fruit but would have enjoyed some additional layers.

  Melville Clone Tasting AND pre-2000 California Cabernet: Light and clean/pure strawberry fruit with mature notes of forest floor, gun powder and mushrooms.
