PnP. Medium-dark ruby color, slightly lightening up towards the rim, Amazing nose of sweet dark cherries, strawberries, minerality (graphite and iron), leather, meat, sweet spices. On the palate there are again notes of sweet strawberries and dark cherries, meaty/beefy flavors, some graphite, pepper and a touch of smoke. It's medium-full bodied and dense, with still medium-high tannin that is very silky, but present and a nice medium acidity providing freshness to the rich impression. Very long finish. An amazing top-notch Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru that combines the classic Burgundy elegance with a powerful Gevrey-style. I would still give it another 3-5 years in bottle (this is a perfectly stored bottle) to let the tannin dissolve a little more.
Gevreys with friends (Chez Jane): Not closed, but much more sedate than the preceding wines - smooth, ripe, quite oaky - classy could do with more bite. Obviously it's young, but hard to see into its future
