Dark garnet. Nose of strawberry, currant, floral notes, earthy tones. Layers of dark plum, black currant, a bit of integrated oak, faint tar, and sweet grip on the palate. Firm but fine-grained tannin. Freshening acidity. Long finish of dense plum and strawberry amidst tar and graphite. Just the thing with Spencer steak smothered with mushrooms and Parmesan.

Opened 2 hours before T-giving dinner. We have a light ruby wine, with some bricking. Plenty of sediment. Light to medium bodied. Smells a little hot....there is bright cherry and some florals on the nose. Hint of anise. Very acidic - bright and light with cherry notes predominate. Zing on the attack is sharp, followed by the cherry and drying tannin woods at the finish. Evolved and fleshed out some, but still a pretty acidic wine. Paired well to cut through the rich dinner - wishing for a little more sweet fruit to balance out the acids.

Ripe dark fruit, rich, earthy and velvety. Probably getting near the end of its prime window, but showed well tonight.

Brief note, had with dinner at SPQR. Good food wine, prime time and certainly ready. Well balanced and intense but not especially complex.
