Tasted at the winery, by the glass. Fairly sure this was PnP so not much time to open up. Still, what an achievement; plenty of mineral, black cherry and berry fruit. Structure too, but the tannins are refined and well integrated. Full bodied, next time I will make sure to decant for at least 2h. I had a hard time deciding which I liked best: the mellowed '06 or the big and bold '11. Both so different, I decided to pick up one of each.
Completely agree with Jeff Leve's note. It is good now but I think it will be better later. I prefer a little more age on this, will hold remaining bottles for a few years before trying again. Needs a good 4-6hours decant to show

(Chateau Troplong-Mondot St Emilion) Rather a restrained style on the nose, although there are appealing notes of creamy, vanilla-tinged fresh fruits. Gentle, composed, supple texture on the palate, smoky tannins, overall very well judged. Ripe, cigar-tinged tannic finish. This is very nicely done and should drink very well with time.
