this was a really good fresh with 40 yrs age bottle. pop - recorked by the chateau in 2006. delicious copper color, thick robe of silky fruit. this had all the typical mature sauternes flavors - caramel, pineapple, lanoline, with good burst of zesty acidity.
Tried alongside another 1975 Sauternes which rather showed this one up. Still a good wine with fresh acidity just not a lot of depth and length. Given the nose did not contain much there is probably not much to be gained by further ageing
Nice but again a victim of bottle variation that has plagued this entire lot we bought. Some bottles have been sensational. This was not, but it was not bad. Deep honey color. Orange, apricot, marmalade. Nice sweetness, but lacking the sheer power that can still be present in these wines. Some of the bottles have been worse, some better. This fell in the middle.
