Pulled this one out of the cellar to share a nice, reasonably priced Tuscan with a friend. Firm upon opening but mellowed nicely in about an hour. Lots of plum, cassis, earthy flavors and a beautiful dark ruby color. Drinking nicely now and should also be good for a couple more years.
A little disappointed in this bottle. Great nose on initial cork pull. Plum, tobacco. Nice structure with chewy tannins. After an hour of decanting, closed up, became tart, very dry, didn't come back throughout the night.
Popped and poured. Big nose of overripe plums, blackberry, cassis, and a little tobacco. On the palate, dark berries, plum, cedar, tobacco. A very slutty wine and something I wish I had more of. Finishes with nice dusty tannins. Could beneift from more time. Great wine from a tough vintage.
I should have followed the tasting notes and waited a few years because the tannins were still a bit firm. I decanted for a full hour and by the last glass this was starting to smooth out nicely. This did have a nice structure with dark berries and tobacco notes.
