I have been savings this for a long time because I wanted to see how it would age. Popped, decanted and poured. Aromas of boysenberry, huckleberry, wild cherry, wild strawberry and plum. Lot of fruit on this nose! Flavors of plum, cherry, boysenberry, black pepper and bit of balsamic. Ends with a 30+ second finish with balsamic and berry notes. The first couple of sips were great but the balsamic set in and took it down a notch. Still nice and was my favorite Carlisle but definitely prefer them younger than this. Rated this higher in it's youth.

3 hour slow ox from Magnum. 16+% alcohol extremely well hidden in this very smooth, black and red fruited zin with the 15% field blend grapes adding a wonderful touch of complexity. Touch of sweet Oak. A quality wine of interest.

This was a surprise. I found this in my cellar and felt that I was about 7 years late drinking this. The corkscrew entered a REALLY soft cork. It turned to dust as I tried to remove it. I had to filter the wine to remove the pieces and cork dust. But the wine was wonderful! Smooth as silk and plenty of fruit. This was a great surprise - and a reward for my negligence.

Going super strong!! This has aged incredibly well. Pronounced black currant kote on the nose very similar to the nose on the 2006 Carlisle Vineyard Zin consumed recently. A weather related note from 2006? A winemaking related note from this period at Carlisle? I don’t know, but it is of Cab-like intensity. Further, all the ‘usual’ zin goodness from Carlisle; brambly fruit, both fresh and candied, chocolate, creamy malo texture, zin-spice of cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. Another masterpiece from Carlisle. What happened to this vineyard? The back label says this was the last vintage. Too bad...
This is dark and young looking, at first, all truffles on the nose with plum, dark berry fruit. Medium weight, medium finish. Will revisit tomorrow. Lots of complexity, complete wine. Drink.
