Less fruity than the last bottle of this, this example of the 1900 Montrose still showed a wonderful, aromatic, broad, mellow redcurrant nose accented by iberian ham, nuts, worn leather, sandalwood, old oak, and cumin - so detailed, fine, and still complete. Lasts beautifully on the palate.

Tasted blind, I was actually fairly sure this was the ‘49 Mouton - gorgeous, ravishing redcurrant and cranberry, eucalyptus, balsam, a malty note that somewhat indicates its age. With air, this develops red licorice and chestnut. Characterful and dynamic, if you have to watch it closely because it does start to fade after about 30 minutes.
