  • Absolutely excellent. A bit muted on the nose and palate at first but with aeration hit its stride. Would mark as ready to drink but no rush. Just love chenin when the nuttiness elements start to emerge.

  • Pleasant nose with hints of butter and nuts. Elevated acidity, citrus and yellow fruit, with hints of green, brine and grapefruit rind.

  • Our experience with aged Savennières is maybe 2-3 bottles - we typically drink recent vintages - so my frame of reference is non-existent. We opened a 2016 of the regular Baumard, for uh, science. The cork came out beautifully, never would have guessed it was 20 years old. Poured a deep golden color, like a sauternes or a 10-year old scotch. The nose is rich in character, highlighted with apples and honey. The mouth is amazing. Slightly oxidative, baked apples and pears, apricots, nectarines and honey. Acidity is perfect, and the finish lasts for what seems like an eternity. Aged Savennières is definitely polarizing, with the Mrs. thinking it is way past. I think this is a fantastic wine and am happy I don't have to share! Compared to the 2016, it's hard to tell these are the same grape. I feel like this would pair really well with smoked trout, popcorn or french fries.

  • Exceptional Savennieres. Honeydew, faint floral notes, slight muskiness, light honey, ultra-long finish and a profound nose. I've often read that Savennieres was the rare white wine that improved with age, and this Baumard certainly proved it. I'd tried a bottle of the same wine 10 years back, and it had nowhere near the complexity, depth or flavor. Was a great match with authentic Indonesian rijstafel at Java restaurant in Park Slope, especially the vegetarian and seafood dishes.

  • Rich honey apricot colour.
Flinty apricot, honey, stone fruit and mineral spice.
Medium weight, excellent depth, bright acidity leaving a brilliantly crisp zinging finish.
Rich fleshy flavours of honey, peach, honeysuckle, orange rind, apricot, with a core of dry extract and mineral spice. Delicious drinking.
