Blind Tasting 1968-79 Ridge Geyservilles (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA): Nose is a bit reticent, some autumn leaves. Light bodied with low to medium acidity. Smooth, silky cherry fruit and tea. (my 6th, group's 7th)

Nose - black cherry, dark chocolate, smooth, cinnamon.
Super-smooth, sweet black cherry, quite ripe, touch of raisin, hint of fudge.

Earthy, dark fruit nose seems a bit old. Subdued but still jammy cherry and cassis liqueur on the palate...with a good dose of tobacco spit. While definitely with a generic "old wine" edge, still identifiable as zin.
