This is exactly what I want from Chianti Classico. Deep but not opaque red. Fresh nose with red fruit and hints of leather. Medium/full bodied palate with plenty of fruit, some depth, minerals, leather, tangy Tuscan acidity, fine aromatic overlay and firmly supported quite long finish. Has not yet acquired the extra graciousness and secondary complexity of V.del Sorbo '01 opened a few days ago but very good.
Best Chianti that I have had in a while and far better than last tried 16 months ago. Nice nose of cherry, earth and licorice. Nice balanced palate of sweet and sour cherry, licorice, earth and spice. Light cherry in color and no tannin.
Cherry and licorice with good acidity, some sharp edges and a medium finish. Nice, medium-bodied, elegant, balanced texture. Still plenty of bright fruit, but seems a bit less pronounced than prior bottles. Developing more flavor complexity and losing some juiciness, but not yet done evolving. This will change, but not convinced it is going to improve dramatically. 90-91
