Quite earthy on the nose with flint and desiccated stone fruit. Showing much more like a classic sec at this point with flinty mineral and a bit of nuttiness. Rip-roaring acidity and, overall, the wine needs more frame to hang the structure around. Still, there are some interesting things to see here. B-.
Dinner with JonnyG, again: Mandarin, iodine, sea spray and some old oak. Touch medicinal on the palate, otherwise it is quite sound. A lick of sweetness and the fruit maybe falls away a touch earlier than it would have in its youth. I don't mind it, but time to drink.
