  • Actually in truth unrateable. Just to be drinkable at this age is a feat. Had thought I'd ruined this bottle by having it sent through the mail. It then started to leak. Prior to this was Top Shoulder. Anyway, fabulous deep ruby colour on poring, changing to tawny with time in the glass. Every glass changed. After a little air, astonishing fruits, blackcurrant and dark cherry. Then incense, wood smoke, old churches, antique mahogany chests. Good acidity. great persistence. Extremely smooth tannins. Survived, drank well. Not a great vintage but it was a great bottle. And just as old as me. Not sure who has aged better. An experience.

  • From the same 375 as ggolec. Notes were similar -- cork came out relatively easy, in two pieces. Virtually all the sediment (58 years worth) remained in the bottle! For the first 30 minutes, nose still had fruit -- dried prunes and raisins, plus TONS of toffee and caramel. As time went on, the prunes/raisins dropped and were replaced by tawny port and more toffee. Some smokiness on the palate. Still had (some) tannins and a nice acidity. 60+ second finish.

  • What a treat. Drank from a 375. Cork came out relatively easy. Color was predictably light brown with a fair amount of sediment. Nose was reminiscent of a tawny port, with prune and toffee shining through. Palate was quite enjoyable with plenty of smokiness and toast, and a very long finish.

  • Colour not as deep as expected, sufficiant concentration to cover the alcohol, a bit too much wood, but a firm midtaste, round and with length;
    Harvey's bottle.
