The Best Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Dinner (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): Alongside the 2001.Rich and spiced from the moment it was opened and I was poured a taste. So much ripe black and red cherry with baking spice, this is enticing and nearly elegant at the same time. Not quite Grand Cru density, but otherwise as good as it gets. I haven't had this wine since 2015, and it is even better now than ever before. At least tonight's bottle.

Everything the 01 served side-by-side has, with the volume and richness turned up several notches. A near perfect wine that was a pleasure to drink and admire for an hour, including with a delicious cassoulet.

GORGEOUS wine. The best wine that night and in a perfect spot. The fruit oooooooooooozes purity of dense bright red berries interlaced with spice and growing sweet earth that shows its age. Perfectly balanced on the tightrope with elegance and finesse. Cool racy acidity that gives it so much freshness. When 2002s are on and the acidity is right, the sweetness of the vintage with the acidity is such a winning combo. Couldn't stop drinking it. Only Leroy BM that I've had that's as close is the 99.

This was great and much better than a recent bottle of '96 (not totally surprising given vintages but still). Classic stem and spice aromatics but they aren't overpowering and are in total harmony with the beautiful dark cherry fruit. Impressive balance and refinement. Improved over several hours.

Incredible Leroy spice on the nose. Full and expansive on the palate. Amazing balance, energy and precision. Oh and I also liked the way it tasted.
