This Btl of Les Clos rocked. Against the other 2 wines, one would think a vertical. Superb color, salty, mineral, lasting on both the palate and in the glass. Only got better. What a grand cru should taste like and 20 years old. Often said there ar great btls and this was one for sure.

The color on this is ridiculously young, pale gold. I’ve seen darker 3-year old wines. The nose is delicate but it is more mature than the color shows. There are some flowers, lemon zest, tropical fruits and honeycomb. Smells a little waxy. On the palate it is not very plump but still full bodied, acid is medium plus. Time has tamed it. There is some minerality to it but not GC complexity. Enjoyable bottle that tastes amazingly young and fresh 18 years after harvest.
William Fevre has 16% of the total Les Clos appellation, with southern exposure, full sunlight, and parcels situated on the heights of the appellation. From Chalky clay, marl, and marly limestone from the Kimmeridgian era (the upper Jurassic geological period, 160-140 million years ago). Located on either side of the Serein River. Stony soil. Very white, dense and deep clay, mixed with a conglomerate of fossils and stones. The compressed limestone at a depth of 80 cm contributes aromas and spice to this Grand Cru in its youth.
PAIRING: Butter poached lobster. [A+]

Beat your 2013 WOTY Dinner: Heavily floral nose, with melon, pineapple and honey. Powerful on the palate as well, with excellent acidity to drive towards a great length finish. Not overly complex but delicious. Much better than a bottle in 2008.

Chicago Rotating Dinner Series - September 2013 (Burgundy) (Ada Street - Chicago, IL): I liked this a lot. Bright nose of lemons, lime, and fresh florals. The usual plumpness of Les Clos had receded, revealing an edgy, energetic Chablis. Layers of mineral notes, with strong lemon and lime tones. Drinking very well right now...can go longer, too.

(Fevre William Chablis Le Clos) Pale gold. A fresh nose of grapefruit. The palate betrays a little (oak induced?) harshness, but this softens with aeration. As the harsh note fades there's a waxy-smooth character to the palate with a creamy butterscotch on the medium plus length finish. Despite good concentration and even with time in the glass I didn't really warm to this wine
