Nose: Herbal and floral cabernet, dark berries, vegetable garden and mint. Such a classic old Napa nose. Palate: It is a fully mature wine with the fruit sitting behind a curtain of violet and mint. Great undertone of cassis here. Finish: Fading imprint of dark berries and more garden notes.

One of those rare bottles that brings everything I love about this hobby together. Bought at the winery, stored perfectly and in immaculate condition. Perhaps it was the amazing people around me or the historic nature of the wine, but I can't recall a more profound Napa Cab than this. A privilege.

Still with plenty of heft and muscle, but flat and relatively inarticulate, transmitting black fruit, leather, and earth in a surly package.

Charleston VI; 11/3/2021-11/7/2021 (Charleston, SC (various locations)): In the middle of a horizontal of '96 Bordeaux this comes across as a bit more darker sweetness than some of those although still very much more old world style. Very balanced and tasty.
