Quite similar to the '04 that was in the tasting. It, too, has a little green pepper upon entry. The fruit is good, but a little less capable for carrying the midpalate and keeping the finish strong. Still a very good wine.
Bordeaux & San Sebastian Trip; 3/6/2015-3/13/2015: Nose: blackberry, cherry pit and some oak/spice notes. Good dark nose compared to the Fife de Lagrange beside it. Palate: sweet red fruit on entry that is backed up by soil, tobacco and leather. Bit of glycerin here as well Finish: bit of tart black fruit and earth. Still see cherry and baking spice here as well.
Lagrange is the largest producer in St Julien of the classified growths. When touring the couvier it was impressive that they generate such high quality. Optical sorting wad recently added here, and malolactic fermentation occurs in tank rather than barrel.

(Chateau Lagrange (St Julien)) A sweet, modern style of fruit here, fresh and bright, red and black summer fruit compote. It seems to possess polish and substance although on entry it has its texture tightly reined in. Through the midpalate it expands though, becoming more like the nose suggests, more polished and very lightly creamy. Well judged, with rather a firm tannic substance to it although it works well with the fruit and acids. With time in the cellar this could be very good.
(Chateau Lagrange St Julien) Dense, sweet, with concentrated ripe fruit. The palate has a very ripe and detached style, mineral and fresh. Fairly bright and lively, with good vivacity. Less supple than some, but with good substance, nice acidity and appropriate tannins. Very good potential.
