Very nice wine, in a good drinking window. Nose not terribly old world or impressive. Very lush black and blue fruit with a bit of zest on the back of the tongue Long finish. Would put up against similar priced Carlisle or Turley wines.
Decanted 1/2 ht. The wine is garnet with medium legs. There is light sediment in the bottle. There's black currant (cassis), cherry and bloody meat on the nose. It tastes like dark plum, dark berry, and rare meat. The body is medium/full with a smooth moderate finish. I don't take a firm position on its aging, but I suspect it'll last longer than the projected "drink date" of 2018.

(Mas Jullien Coteaux du Languedoc Mas Jullien) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-a really spicy and sour cherry nose; I like the nose a lot; kind of beefy; musty; the minerality is coming through; PALATE-very classic; not a ton of fruit, but a good tannin structure; beautiful blueberry flavors annihilating my palate on the attack; really interesting wine; rustic and has real structure to it; big wine; well made; this wine is SPECTACULAR; very well made, serious wine; DS-95; GV-92
