Dark red, translucent at the edges. Aromas of dark fruits. Elegant but muted on the palate, blackberries, roast meat, anise. Sharp tannins, bright acidity, bit out of balance. Touches of heat. Finishes long and dark fruited. Still OK, but just that. Certainly past peak. Drink up.

Wine has peaked-- preferred it two years ago. Dark berries, inky hue. Slightly over ripe nose, spice. Graphite/spice, dark berries, full bodied, nicely structured, silky. If you got it, I urge you to drink it up.

PnP and drunk with pork roast leftovers. Could not ask for more in an aged Syrah. Drinking at peak. Concentrated dark fruits and licorice along with secondary flavors. Tannin completely integrated. Pure delight. Under screwcap. Drink or hold.

Sealed with a screw cap. This bottle has not seen the best storage as it spent several years of its life in a NYC apartment, but it seems no worse for the wear. Near opaque purple with a heady nose of blackberry liqueur and some herbal and meaty undertones. As is the Carlisle style, this is unapologetically oversized but not overdone. Full-bodied and big-fruited, but with a nice lift from the underlying acidity and no noticeable oak presence. There is a pleasant smokey finish marked by firm but polished tannins. While my tastes drifted away from this style years ago, these are well made wines.

Deep black coloring. More savory, not a fruit bomb. Paired very well with some olives that brought out the sanguine elements of the wine. A more Northern Rhone-ish profile. Nicely done and good bottle composition given the age. Was pleased that the hold time on the bottle was rewarded. Under cork.
