  • I think most people don’t have or drink enough mature, white wine, especially Chardonnay based white wine. Okay maybe I don’t. This was really good. Still in its prime. No just of browning.

I don’t taste particular things in wine very well, but I tasted pineapple, peach, and a little bit of citrus. The wine was really well balanced. I’m always amazed at how well balanced Brewer Clifton wines are despite the sometimes high alcohol. This one was “only” 14% but I’ve had some other Chardonnays that were over 15% , and if you’re reading this, you’ve probably had the same Chardonnays.

Goodbye beautiful wine. Wish I had more of you.

  • Good deepish yellow color; notes of tropical guava/pineapple, apple pear, with creme brulee undertones, a little brioche--no over-maturity showing, in surprisingly great shape! super silky, telflon silkiness, concentrated but not gooey, Good acidity keeps this a little tangy; this is outstanding. subtle mineral notes under the exuberant fruit and integrated vanilla oak, tertiaries starting, this is in a perfect place really, and should hold well for a few more years, although why take the chance? Very nice for a 12 y.o. central coast chard. Only beef is the oak is a bit heavy handed, but it's well integrated and goes well with the style and fruit. A bit hi alcohol, but that's to be expected. Very nice effort. With grilled halibut, which maybe is a bit light for this wine.
Had this the next day with smoked salmon which I thought would be a better pairing. Not so. I think the oak reared it's head more after sitting overnight int he fridge and was a bit too much for the salmon.

  • Outstanding. Rich fruit, toasty notes, minerals, structure, all in balance. Amazing sip after sip. Second bottle tasted.

  • Family dinner with Bob n Chelsea. Getting a little long in the tooth but still hanging in there. Not going to get better but still a decent bottle. Good cut, a little funky on the nose and palate, good intensity, but starting to lose its verve over previous bottles consumed.

  • Bouquet of citrus and honey. Medium bodied. This one is more subtle on the palate. Very fresh and nicely balanced with little to no oak influence.
