Drinking quite well tonight. Could have used a decant though, as the tannins were grippy and firm until the end of the bottle. Notes of tar, raspberries, pomegranate, sweet tobacco, and crushed minerals. Terrific fruit concentration and acidity. Long lingering finish.
Medium to dark crimson color turning brown rust at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose gives off dark berry, cola, leather and scorched earth notes with a palate that's full-bodied but has considerably mellowed with ten years of age; dry and engaging. Flavors of black currants, creosote, wet asphalt, pain grille, cola, and dried thyme. Finishes long with hints of incense. Drink now until 2026.
Solid traditional Barolo, but still pretty tight and young. Nose with air reveals some tar, red fruit, tobacco, and earth. The palate is tight and tannic, but has some red berry fruit, tar, and smoke. Currently too young, but will likely show better with more age. I will probably give my other bottle a minimum of 5 more years.
