  1989 Lafon Genevieres: Lafon has been facing some premox problem lately but before mid 1990s there was not such an issue. The bottle was in perfect condition. On the nose, buttery sensation, honey, white flower, very lovely, on palate, mouthful feeling with very gentle acidity (opposite to linear, reductive style), roasted almond/ hazelnut. After 2 hours, more structure, gained a bit more weight back palate, the acidity was there but was very round and silky.

  Perfect bottle condition. Nose has honey, coconut oil, grilled nut, and gasoline. Palate is intense with lots of stuffing. Very elegant and powerful. This is what aged lafon should be like when its not oxidized. Still super young and energetic. 93+

  La Pyramide Dinner (Vienne - Northern Rhone Valley): Ripe and nicely maturing orchard fruit aromas and flavors with great spice, some hints of roasted hazelnut and faint background sweetness. Everything is maturing, but completely age appropriate. Well stored bottles of Lafon 1989s are sensational.
