Leon's Burgundy @ Medlar (The Medlar, London): Full garnet, almost dull ruby. Looks far younger than the Faiveley alongside. Tighter and more focused on the nose. A touch of orange juice. More focused on palate too. Redder fruit. Quite dry on the finish. Hasn't quite got the fruit to cover the acidity and relict tannin. Getting a tad astringent with air. Looks younger in the glass than the 98 Giradin CdlR. ***

La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Small La Paulee from magnum brought by Bouchard. Charming combination of ripe and mature red and black cherry with good power, ending with a nicely long finish.

Dark and rustic on the nose and palate. Stylistically, it is inline with the two 76 La Romanee I had.

Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner with Musicians (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): Small glass, brief note. Very ripe, nicely fresh fruit combined with graceful evolution and earth hints. Good power for its age and level. Charming throughout. Even better than another bottle from earlier this year.

Bouchard Père et Fils Tasting with Frédéric Weber (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL): Tasting, brief note. Plenty of cooked mushroom and earth with enough lingering red cherry still sticking around. Good weight, better length that still shows good brightness for its age and the vintage.
