Rather a cooked note on the end palate when opened but with some air the fruit blossomed and the raisiny note seemed to retreat . Very good indeed if lacking the grandeur of other vintages.

Still young with deep to medium ruby in color. Intense powerful nose with kirsch liqueur and coffee aromas bursting out of the glass. Full body, soft tannins, with marked hot and roasted flavours. Kirsch liqueur, coffee flavours are intense and long. Very good pommard showing the character of the hot vintage. May be still bit young for me. Will wait few more years for next bottle.

{2nd of 3 magnums, exc fill, sound cork, again drunk with LAT, BW and JEL} Ripe, black and red fruits, very good length; this year perhaps just a bit finer than the mag drunk last year at this time. Solid 93 ...

drunk alongside the 2004, both were wonderful but I marginally preferred the 2004 although it may only be because it was more mature and probably at its peak whereas this may well still improve - both were lovely wines

Magnum purchased on release; 5 mm ullage; sound cork. Tasted with LT and JL at dinner. Rich, ripe and perfectly balanced, more red than black fruit, long length. Not at all hot, nor stewed or over-ripe, another winner in 2003 despite the hot summer; not as minerally as in some top years, which may be the vintage, yet a bit more elegant than I thought it would be. Drink now or next 10 years in this format.

(Comte Armand Pommard "Clos de Epeneaux") Wow this was frigging good! Everything about this wine was big. The nose, the palate, the concentration, the tannins, the minerality and the finish. It is so dense but still retains some eleagance. The mid palate just explodes into a very very long finish. Very dark fruited with fantastic dense minerality. The oak is there but is almost completley absorbed by the wealth of fruit. Absolutely stunning bottle of wine. Will age for at least 25-35 years.
