  • The nose is fragrant and charming, with old rose, a little plum and red cherries. On the palate, similarly charming, very civilized and understated, with blackcurrant, a little cranberry and redcurrant, then some plums and vanilla. This could have been a bad bottle, but I found it lacked intensity and the velvety power I would expect from a LLC. On the basis of this bottle, perhaps starting to fade and I wonder if it wouldn't have been better a few years ago. Still a delicious wine, but there are better 01s and for four times less than the current price, CDM 00 is a lot better.
So if you have some, try one, if you haven't and are thinking about buying one, don't.

  • On opening full bell pepper. Dark color than expected. Could have blindées 5 years younger. With time…mesquite barbecue chips…super full bodied…can see this going 15 plus more years and probably improves a little bit

  • Ruby, with a hint of bricking on the rim. Delicate perfumed nose; open blackcurrant/cassis with a bit of rose/florality. Searing acidity which is perhaps not a surprise; tannins are very well integrated but make their presence felt slightly on the finish. Fruit perhaps tends towards red. No pencil lead for me but certainly tertiary notes of cigar/leather starting to arrive. All in all it's a tiny bit mean; nose is incredible, though.

  • A pity the restaurant didn’t have the proper vessel for this wine. Smooth and layered with blackcurrant charred oak hint of warm spice, balanced with no edges, rich but not overwhelming.

  • Still in the same neighborhood as my last note. Stunning.
