Beautiful golden hue with fruit forward taste. I' m just acquiring a palate for Rieslings so I can't compare this appropriately to others, but it complemented the spicy Cambodian food perfectly.

Tasted over two days Light Golden Straw color with a slight green tint. Nose on day 1 started out tight with mixed floral accents and then loosened up with citrus fruits and spice notes. Day 2 the nose was light with sweet notes and light citrus. Taste on day 1 was crisp and tart on the front with a residual and lingering sweetness. The acid was very evident and hit the tongue quickly --this contributes to the crispness but at this point in the life of this wine the acid makes it a tad out of balance.....The future of this wine however will benefit nicely from that acidity. Day 2 the taste was more like what I expect it to be in a year or two. The acid had mellowed some and the fruits had come more foward as if it was aging nicely; the complexity was much more developed with layers of flavor. This wine is drinkable and quite enjoyable now however wait a few years and you will reap the benefits of patience. My only complaint is that this wine is in the new style of what I consider to be overly sweet, underfermented Kabinetts -- that's today's style but I long for the return to the 60's and 70's style of moderately light touch of sweetness to tickle your pallaet as well as allow for great aging.
I will buy some bottles to lay down (well stand up really -- this wine has a glass stopper with a plastic liner as a cork replacement ----- very classy but how will it effect the aging process) for a while

AP 27074 015 9; 8.5 pabv. La Piazza Restaurant. New Bremen, OH; $35/750 ml. Schmitt Sohne, Dist.; Millersville, MD.
Having been disappointed by the Schmitt Michelsberg Spätlese '09 by the glass, John Albert and I ordered this promising bottle.
Quite a rich gold color; forceful, complexly spicy (saffron, tarragon); developing nose consisting of peach, apple, and white truffle notes, cotton candy; juicy acidity, and great length. Of at least Spätlese power, it completely overwhelmed the delicate stuffed sole and even pissaladiere. A magnificent bottle but just not a Kabinett. Best as a sipper, unless skillfully matched with food Judged as a Kabinett, 88. Judged as a Spätlese, 92. Drink now or will age two decades.

Light golden color. Peach flavors in this slightly sweet wine. Liked it.
