  • The 1937 Léoville Poyferré is coming to the end of its useful life, even from magnum format with a good fill. But there’s still plenty to like here and the nose offers a classic melange of old leather, chestnut, meaty umami, and lithe red fruit. Tasted blind, I managed to guess 1920s-1930s St Julien, but couldn’t really identify anything to place this as Léoville Poyferré specifically.
